The vaccine, approved in Europe by the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford, acquired a new name, but without any other substantial change.
From March 26 it is now called Vaxzevria.
Changes to the name of the drug, as Vaxzevria, have already been made on the website of the European Medicines Agency (Coreper), accompanied by the same labels for the vaccine, the use of which was temporarily banned and for precautionary reasons in many European countries , in early March, due to fears of causing thrombosis.
However, in the middle of the month, the EMA ruled that the AstraZeneca vaccine was "safe and effective". Describing cases of thrombosis as very rare, he said that the specific preparation "is not associated" with an increased risk of thromboembolism. And he stressed that the benefits outweigh any potential risks.
