The national report with the epidemiological data for the coronavirus pandemic until October 23, 2021, as well as the analysis of deaths until October 26, was published today by the Ministry of Health.

Specifically, the national report shows a small increase in the cumulative impact, in all Provinces, with the greatest burden appearing in the age group of 10-19 years.

Specifically, until October 26, 2021, 655 deaths have been reported to the Health Monitoring Unit of the Ministry of Health, diagnosed with COVID-19. 64% are men (419 deaths) and the remaining 36% are women (236 deaths).

Of the 655 deaths, 570 (87%) had an underlying cause of the disease COVID-19. 64% of the total number of deaths due to the underlying disease COVID-19, concerns men (363 deaths) and the remaining 36% concerns women (207 deaths).

August 2021 (93), exceeded the number of deaths in December 2020 (86) and January 2021 (86). From the beginning of the pandemic until today, the percentage for the three months with the highest numbers, reaches 40% of the total number of deaths.

It is followed by April 2021 with a percentage of 10% (66), May 2021 with a percentage of 9% (58) and July with a percentage of 7% (46). The highest rate of death of people positive for the disease COVID-19, with the underlying cause of death the disease COVID-19, concerns people with permanent residence in the District of Limassol (n = 208, 36%). They are followed by the Province of Nicosia (n = 179, 31%), the Province of Larnaca (n = 105, 18%), the Province of Paphos (n = 40, 7%), the Province of Famagusta (n = 30, 5%), 6 deaths have Unspecified Province of permanent residence (1%) and 2 deaths concern residents abroad.
