A senior North Korean official has visited China, according to Japanese and South Korean media today, saying it could be the second visit in less than a month and a half by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

According to the Yonhap news agency, the Pyongyang strongman reportedly visited the Chinese city of Dalian, located on the border with North Korea, a few hundred kilometers from the capital.

The Japanese television network NHK broadcast images of a procession of official cars crossing the city of Dalian, as well as images from the city airport showing two North Korean planes, one of which is the same type as the one commonly used by Kim. .

The two planes were videotaped during their take-off from Dalian.

According to Yonhap, Kim may have visited the Chinese city to meet with President Xi Jinping in preparation for the summit with US President Donald Trump.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry neither confirmed nor denied the information.

"I have no information that I can make public at this time," said Geng Swang, a spokesman for the group. "China and North Korea are close neighbors who maintain communication and close contacts," he added.
Kim visited China in late March on his first overseas visit since taking office in 2011.
