The woman who gave birth to three children but none had her DNA

The story took on dimensions as it reached the US Supreme Court, as it had to be proven that she is the real mother of her three children.

It took months of legal battles and suggestions from doctors who found this to be a rare medical case, as there was the phenomenon of chimerism.

Lydia Fairchild and her husband, pregnant with their third child, decided to divorce. Lydia then asked for a paternity test, but the results hid a surprise. The children had the father's DNA but not the mother's.

The couple's quarrels reached extremes, even that she was a surrogate mother and not the real one, was heard in the courts, as a result of which she is in danger of losing custody.

Eventually after many tests it turned out that the twins did not have the same DNA as one absorbed the other DNA. The phenomenon is called chimerism and is extremely rare.
