70% effective in preventing coronavirus infection was found to be the vaccine developed by researchers at the University of Oxford, according to a study based on thousands of volunteers who were given the drug.

This result follows the announcements of 95% efficacy for the Pfizer vaccine and 94,5% for the Moderna vaccine.

The study was based on the cases of 20.000 volunteers in the United Kingdom and Brazil. As reported, in some of those who received the vaccine in two half-doses with a difference of a few months, the effectiveness increased to 90%, without it being clear why.

Professor Andrew Pollard, head of the third phase of clinical trials, said the vaccine was effective and would save many lives.

The British Minister of Health Matt Hancock said he was very pleased with the results, confirming that the government has ordered 100 million doses of this vaccine, which is prepared by AstraZeneca.

Already 4 million doses are available for use when the vaccine is approved by the UK Authority.
