Heidy Rios threw her three-week-old son at his father's feet in an argument that broke his skull.
Heidy Rios partner and father of the child rushed their baby boy to the hospital in New Orleans. Doctors discovered that the 26-day-old baby had a fracture on one side of his skull.
The hospital then called the authorities who spoke to the father of the child. He claimed that he was arguing with his 24-year-old partner and threw their baby at his feet. "Take your son," she reportedly told him during the altercation.
Investigators claim that the 24-year-old admitted that she was arguing with her partner. He denied, however, that he was holding the baby during the quarrel. He even allegedly told them that he did not know that their son had been injured.
The report, however, was revised after Heidy Rios changed her story when a witness testified to authorities that the young mother was indeed holding the baby at the time of the altercation. She thus claimed that her child may have fallen during the quarrel.
