Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan today rejected an apology from the NATO alliance after his name appeared on an "enemy list" in an exercise, saying this disrespectful behavior could not be forgiven so easily.

"You saw the disrespectful behavior in the NATO exercise yesterday. "There are some mistakes that are not made by idiots but only by people at the base," Erdogan said in a televised speech.

"This issue cannot be closed with a simple apology," he said.

Erdogan said yesterday that Turkey had withdrawn 40 troops from a NATO exercise in Norway after his name appeared on a list of enemies on the exercise list. NATO and Oslo have apologized.
