British fashion photographer Rankin is celebrating Mickey Mouse's 90th birthday with the release of his book "Mickey Mouse & Me", the proceeds of which will be donated to a charity that cares for children with life-threatening illnesses.
Rankin said that the Disney character impressed him as a child and that "Fantasia" inspired him to get involved in movies. "It's much more than a character, it's a symbol of optimism, hope and inspiration for people in all walks of life," he said.
"And you can see how it has affected my photos over the years. This book pays tribute to the inspiring impact it has had on a generation and its journey from a simple sketch to an idol of civilization over 90 years. We had fun creating the book and we owe gratitude to those who participated. "I hope to raise a lot of money for an important charity," the photographer told WWD.
The book's pages feature 30 celebrities who have excelled in fashion, entertainment, film and music and have been photographed by Rankin, including Kate Moss, Heidi Klum and Liv Tyler.
