The strange incidents mentioned

According to the BBC, the first report was made at 06:47 on Friday, November 9, when a British Airways pilot contacted the air traffic control.

The pilot wanted to know if there were any military exercises in the area he was flying because there was something moving very fast.

The air traffic controller stated that no exercise was taking place.

The pilot, who was flying from Montreal to Heathrow, said there was a "very bright light" and an object had appeared on the left side of the plane before disappearing quickly north.

Another pilot from a Virgin aircraft suggested it may have been a meteorite or other object that had entered the Earth's atmosphere. He said there were multiple objects following the same trajectory and that they were very bright.

Another pilot said the speed of the objects was very high at about 2 Mach (about 2,450 km / h), twice the speed of sound.

"Following reports from a small number of aircraft on Friday 9 November of unusual aviation activity, the IAA submitted a report," said the Irish Civil Aviation Authority (IAA).

"This report will be investigated as part of the normal confidential investigation process," the statement said. A Shannon airport spokesman said the airport would not comment further on the IAA investigation.
