The Dutch government is expected to announce today a "strict" lockdown for Christmas, as it is expected that all stores, except the absolutely necessary ones, will be closed, due to fears about the spread of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus, as reported by Dutch media.

The Dutch government is meeting today with health experts who have recommended that all non-essential shops, schools, bars, restaurants and other public places be closed.

National NOS TV and the ANP news agency quoted government sources as saying that a press conference announcing the new measures would be held at XNUMXpm (local time), just days after the announcement of a partial lockdown.

The Dutch Ministry of Health did not comment on the proposed measures, but also at the time of the press conference.
