Eight to ten people were killed at a school in Texas when a gunman stormed a high school in St. Fe and opened fire, sowing panic and death.

The majority of the dead are students. It was also reported that a police officer was injured, but at the moment the severity of his injuries has not been clarified. A student at the school has been arrested and is being held.

An assailant broke into a classroom at Santa Fe High School and opened fire, according to an eyewitness. The witness told KTRK that he saw a girl who was shot in the leg.

Shortly afterwards, a suspect was taken into custody, according to Cris Richardson, assistant director. He told reporters gathered near the school that he was armed, but "this person has been arrested and is insured."

Police, who responded with 20 patrols, cordoned off the area and are conducting investigations.

Explosives were found which show the rage of the perpetrator, who allegedly wanted to blow up the school.

The profile of the alleged perpetrator

The suspect was named as 17-year-old Dimitrios Pagourtzis, of Greek origin.

The suspect plays on the Santa Fe High School soccer team and is a member of a dance troupe with a local Greek Orthodox church.

Pagourtzis allegedly posted on Facebook photos of himself wearing a T-shirt with the phrase Born to Kill ("Born to Kill") while on another social networking site there were photos of him with a gun and a knife. His Facebook page has now been shut down, according to the New York Post.
