Ballot boxes were closed all over Turkey and the counting of ballots began, according to Turkish media.

The Turkish Interior Ministry said that 4 people were killed and 62 were injured in various incidents of violence in the country.

Two people have died after a fight at a polling station in the Malatya region of eastern Turkey and four people have been arrested.

After voting, Tayyip Erdogan said he was surprised by the incident under investigation. An estimated 553.000 police and security personnel are on foot across the country.

According to Reuters news agency, two people were injured in a fight in Diyarbakir, one of them seriously. Another man was wounded by a knife in a fight between 2 people in the Kandikioi district of Istanbul.

In the southeastern Turkish city of Sanliurfa, at least 30 people were injured during a clash between voters outside a polling station.
