Brett Cavanaugh is wanted as a candidate for a seat on the US Federal Supreme Court, US President Donald Trump announced on Monday night.

The US president has elected a conservative appellant who took part in the 1990 investigation into former President Bill Clinton.

Trump has selected Cavanaugh, 53, to replace Conservative Judge Anthony Kennedy, who announced on June 27 that he was retiring at the age of 81.

The information about the selection of Cavanaugh was broadcast a few minutes before the official announcement by the White House on the television network NBC News.

It is noted that in order to replace Anthony Kennedy with Brett Cavanaugh, the approval of the Senate is required.
