Video shock: The moment when the deadly avalanche "chases" and "buries" the skiers

The skier turns his head and faces the "white tsunami"

One dead and three seriously injured is the sad report of the avalanche that hit the famous winter tourist destination Cran Montana in Switzerland on Tuesday.

One of the four skiers who were crushed by the snow finally succumbed to his injuries yesterday, while being treated in the intensive care unit. According to the relevant announcement of the local Police, he was only 34 years old.

The avalanche occurred around 14.00 noon (local time), at a time when the Kandahar track, located at an altitude of about 2.600 meters on the Planet-Mort Glacier, was crowded.

Meanwhile, a video recorded by the GoPro camera of a skier, who witnessed the huge avalanche of 840 meters, is making the rounds of social media.

At the beginning of the video, we see the skier getting ready to go down the slope. Then, after the descent has begun, we hear a strange hum.

The skier turns his head and sees the huge avalanche coming at him with speed, "burying" some people in its path.

The image of the white "tsunami" terrifies the skier, who of course increases speed, trying to escape from his range. The man is heard encouraging the people in front of him to hurry.

Eight helicopters, 12 dogs and more than 250 police, rescuers and soldiers took part in the search to find more than 10 people trapped under the snow.

The causes of the accident have not yet been determined. However, the competent authorities are guided by two possible scenarios: The first is that some careless skiers caused the avalanche. The second, that the phenomenon was caused due to climatic conditions. If this is the case, the responsibilities and security issues should be investigated.
