The body of 19-year-old Valeria Shpilenko was found in front of the family's luxury apartment building in Moscow last Thursday, a day after her birthday.
Her father, Andrey Shpilenko, 45, was a former lawmaker and senior official in United Russia, the political party led by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
He is now the boss of a network of "techno parks" throughout Russia, which the Kremlin considers vital to the country's economy.
The multimillionaire attacked the Russian media, which assume that her death was the result of a criminal act. - which happened the day after her 19th birthday.
The man reportedly heard his daughter screaming and ran to her bedroom, where she found the window open.
"This is a very difficult time for me and my family," he said. "In order to prevent the spread of false information, I am forced to publish this message. "I see some media outlets trying to misinterpret the information, presenting it as something distorted and implying that my daughter's death is of a criminal nature," he said.
The tragedy on Thursday night "is due to an accident", he said, adding that this was the finding of an investigation by the competent authorities. However, he did not give further details about what exactly happened.
Police sources said that in a preliminary examination, no "traces of a fight" were found, nor was there any note of suicide. Friends of the young girl also said that she showed no signs of suicidal tendencies.
"She was an angel, an ideal daughter and the kindest, nicest person in the world," said the 19-year-old's father. He then asked the media not to "defame my daughter" by making assumptions about her death.
Earlier he had published the following touching message for his daughter, who left suddenly in this tragic way: “My angel, my dear daughter, rest with God. You will live in my heart forever ".
He and his wife Alyona were described as "deeply shocked". Valeria was a student of international journalism in Moscow, while she was also very interested in photography. He had a younger brother, Ilya, 13 years old.
Her father had previously been vice-chancellor at Moscow State University of Technology and Administration.
