A couple died 4 hours apart holding hands

A moving story from Ohio, USA became known and concerns the death of a couple who had been married for at least 64 years.

More specifically, according to the DailyMail, the two of them died four hours apart on Christmas Eve, holding each other's hands. 88-year-old Bill Schafrath died at 07:00 and his 88-year-old wife, Nancy, at 11:00 in a nursing home living in recent years.

"In the last two weeks, when the 88-year-old could not get out of bed, we have joined their beds in the middle of the room," said the couple's niece Pat Cornelius. "So they literally kept their hands together for the last week of their lives," he added.

Their nephew, John Moritz, said: "It was as if they had decided to 'leave' together, one after the other. "Somehow they knew it." The two had no children, but the 88-year-old still had 11 siblings and many nieces.

Their family numbered about 200 members, who decided that their funeral would take place in the church the couple went to after they got married.

Bill was a veteran soldier who had fought in Korea from 1951 to 1953. When he returned from the war he made a career as a builder. On the other hand, Nancy worked for 35 years at the Bank and managed to become vice president.
