Outbreaks of seasonal infections, covid and other incidents lead to high occupancy of the Organization's hospitals.
OKYPY assures that it takes all the necessary measures to provide quality health services to all citizens.
A significant increase in the number of patients admitted to the hospitals of the State Health Services Organization (OKYPY) has been observed recently, resulting in the fullness to reach almost 100% in some of them.
The high occupancy in the hospitals of the Organization is due both to the seasonal outbreak of viral infections, such as pneumonia, bronchitis, etc., in combination with the increased flow of various cases, such as cardiac, cerebral, orthopedic, which require treatment in either Intensive Care Units or Intensive Care Units, Intensive Care Units in the increase in post-Covid patients. A typical example is that in the last weeks in the Intensive Care Unit of the General Hospital of Nicosia around 30 intubated non-COVID patients are treated daily.
This situation It is expected to worsen further in the coming period, as across Europe the new wave of the coronavirus pandemic leads to an increase in hospitalizations.
The Organization, recognizing its great responsibility to continue to play the role of a pillar in the field of health in our country, Assures that it takes all necessary measures to provide quality health services to all citizens and to effectively meet the health needs of the population, despite the increased pressure on his hospitals and especially the emergency departments (TAEP).
