Passenger traffic data for May 2022 as well as January-May 2022 data, Hermes Airports announced.
Specifically, during the passenger traffic in May 2022, a total of about 885 thousand passengers traveled to and from Larnaca and Paphos airports this month (+634 thousand more passengers than the corresponding period of 2021). Passenger traffic in May is at 78.3% of the corresponding month of 2019, a year in which a record of passenger traffic was recorded at Larnaca and Paphos airports.
In terms of passenger traffic in the first five months of the year, about 2.5 million passengers traveled to and from Larnaca and Paphos airports (+2 million more passengers than in the corresponding period of 2021), which corresponds to 73% of traffic in the same period in 2019.
Based on the data so far, flights from Larnaca and Paphos airports for June are expected to increase from 645 to about 704 flights per week.
The total number of seats available at Larnaca Airport in May reached 692 thousand, an increase of 364 thousand seats compared to 2021. The average occupancy rate of aircraft was 80.5% (83.3% arriving and 77.7% departing passengers).
The total traffic of Larnaca Airport for May was 558 thousand (290 thousand arriving and 268 thousand departing passengers). The best performing markets were: United Kingdom (141km), Greece (104km), Germany (47km), Israel (30km), Sweden (29km), Austria (28km), Poland (24km) , Denmark (19km), Romania (13km), Hungary (12km).
The total number of seats available at Paphos Airport in May was 379 thousand, an increase of 316 thousand seats compared to 2021. The average occupancy rate of aircraft was 85.5% (87.9% arriving and 83.2% departing passengers).
The total traffic for Paphos Airport was 325 thousand (167 thousand arriving and 157 thousand departing passengers). The best performing markets were: United Kingdom (160km), Poland (24km), Greece (23km), Israel (20km), Italy (16km), Germany (10km), Hungary (9km) , Netherlands (9km), France (8km), Jordan (7km).
