The new Chief of Police, Stelios Papatheodorou, and the new Deputy Chief of Staff, Christos Mavri, are taking over today.
The appointment ceremony will take place at 10.30 at the Presidential Palace and the inauguration ceremony at 12.30 in the courtyard of the Police Headquarters.
According to SIGMA, the road for the new leader is not paved with rose petals, as he takes the reins in a difficult period for power, mainly due to understaffing and shortages.
The same goes for the new deputy leader, Christos Mavris, who will be the right hand of the new police chief. Both hold a law degree, while Stelios Papatheodorou holds a master's degree in public administration.
The new deputy chief has been in the police force since 1984. He has held the position of assistant chief of staff in recent years as he also served as a business assistant before becoming an assistant chief of operations. He served in the ranks of the force in 2022. From there on, 2 positions of assistant chiefs, looking for new faces.
