Deputy Government Representative Ms. Doxa Komodromou submitted her resignation today to the President of the Republic, Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis.

The resignation of Ms Komodromou was accepted by the President of the Republic.

It is recalled that in the previous days the issue of Komodoromou occupied the Parliamentary Finance Committee. During the meeting, the First Administrative Officer of the Presidency, Efrosyni Georgiou, stated that after the discussion in the competent committee, the Presidency withdrew its request for overtime pay, but the request for the salary of Mrs. Komodromou, who is acting as Deputy Government Secretary, remained Representative.

Speaking to the Commission, the Auditor General of the Republic Odysseas Michaelidis, stated that Ms. Komodoromou is not a deputy Government Representative but performs these duties so that her secondment is legal. He noted that secondments in the public service concern positions in the public service and the seconded person cannot be a political official, since the constitution provides for the separation of political and administrative power. For this reason, he said, as in the case of Andreas Iosif in the previous Government, it was chosen not to be officials, but to exercise the duties of these political officials and be subject to the rights and obligations of the position they hold in the public service.

The orthodox solution, he said, would be for Ms. Komodoromou from the University of Cyprus and to be appointed as Deputy Government Representative, while noting that "the double port creates problems".

He added that the reasons he is requesting for overtime are not acceptable. Among them, he said, he requested overtime from 15:00 to 12.00:XNUMX midnight to attend a meeting of the Council of Ministers in Troodos, to attend a funeral or a memorial service, but also to attend the opening of an observatory.

He also mentioned that 2486 euros were paid with a certificate from the Presidency for the months between March and May in this sense.
