Paphos Police are investigating a case of illegal possession of a controlled drug of class A, illegal possession of property and stabbing with the arrest of a 26-year-old to facilitate the investigations.
According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos, Michalis Ioannou, on Monday, at 22:00, members of the Paphos Crime Prevention Squad stopped a vehicle driven by a 26-year-old man, accompanied by a 20-year-old compatriot, on Eleftherias Avenue in Chloraka. .
A search of the vehicle turned up a 26-year-old bag with a white crystal substance, weighing 0,5 grams, and five other bags containing drug substitutes were found inside the vehicle.
Interrogated orally, the 26-year-old allegedly stated that they belonged to him, while the co-driver denied any involvement in the case.
The 26-year-old was found in possession of the amount of 3.520 euros in various banknotes, for which no satisfactory explanations were given. The 26-year-old was also found in possession of a knife, which turns into a fixed blade and ends in a sharp edge, while, as Mr. Ioannou said, it is a knife that is forbidden to be transported outside the house.
The two persons were transferred to the Paphos police station and interrogated. The 26-year-old was arrested and detained, while the 20-year-old was released after nothing was found against him.
Investigations into the case are ongoing.
