Six people were arrested last night as part of the investigation into the murder of Andreas Evangelos, 53, committed last December in Larnaca.
A written statement from the Communications Office of the Police Headquarters states that "following an operation carried out last night in Larnaca, six men, aged between 19 and 44, were arrested by court order to facilitate the investigation of the murder case committed last December. in Larnaca, with the victim Andreas Evangelou, 53 years old ".
It is added that "the operation to locate and arrest the suspects was carried out around 11 pm on Thursday, February 3, with the participation of members of TAE, OPE and YKAN Larnaca, members of the Anti-Crime Department, Police Headquarters, and members of MMAD. The operation was completed shortly after midnight, while searches followed at the homes, premises and vehicles of the arrested ".
During the investigations, "items were identified and received which are being evaluated by investigators of the Larnaca TAE. Small quantities of drugs and money were also found and the case is being investigated by the Larnaca District Committee of YKAN ".
During the operation "three people aged 44, 23 and 19 were arrested for offenses related to conspiracy to murder, premeditated murder, participation in a criminal organization, participation and acceptance of crimes, illegal possession and transfer of a firearm and illegal possession and transfer explosives ".
At the same time, "based on the information that emerged, a fourth person, a 28-year-old man, was arrested for the offenses of participating in a criminal organization, participating in and accepting the commission of crimes, and destroying evidence."
As part of the police operation that took place last night, "two other men, aged 20, were arrested, in connection with an investigated case of committing crimes related to illegal possession of a controlled drug and money laundering."
The six suspects were taken into custody and today are expected to be brought before the Larnaca District Court for issuing arrest warrants.
According to the announcement of the Police, "the murder of 53-year-old Andreas Evangelos was committed around 8.30 on the night of December 28, 2021, in the parking lot of an apartment building in Larnaca, while he was parking his car. "According to the information under investigation, two persons riding a scooter type motorcycle approached him and one of them shot at him, injuring him fatally."
The case is being investigated by the Larnaca TAE and the Larnaca District Committee of YKAN.
