COVID19: 24 deaths and 2,422 new cases in one week in Cyprus

A total of 24 deaths from COVID19 were recorded during the week of May 6-12 in Cyprus, according to an announcement by the Ministry of Health. 

The total number of deaths due to COVID19 is now 1,051. Within a week, a total of 250,791 diagnostic tests were performed and 2,422 new cases were identified, bringing the total number of cases to 486,086. The positivity rate rose to 0.97% At the same time, 45 patients are being treated in OKYPY hospitals, of which 6 are in serious condition. Fifteen patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be treated by intubation due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Total number of deaths with final cause of the disease COVID-19: 1,051

  • 45 patients COVID-19 are hospitalized in OKYPY hospitals
  • in serious condition (ICU: 0 out of ventilator / 2 intubated, MAF: 4)
  • Percentage of patients without a history of vaccination: 37.78%
  • 15 Patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be treated intubated for COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Diagnostic examinations:

Tracking:

  • They were carried out 165 molecular tests and were detected 5 positive events (percentage of positivity 3.03%)

Private initiative:

  • They were carried out 4,619 molecular tests were identified 215 positive events (percentage of positivity 4.65%)
  • They were carried out 100,257 rapid antigen detection tests were detected 1,330 positive events (percentage of positivity 1.33%)

Through the programs of the Ministry of Health were carried out 140,595 rapid antigen detection test. They were located 799 positive incidents.

  • Primary Education: 41,633 rapid antigen detection tests were detected 43 positive events (percentage of positivity 0.1%)
  • Secondary Education: 24,057 rapid detection tests were detected 19 positive events (percentage of positivity 0.08%)
  • Test-to-Stay: performed 886 rapid antigen detection tests and detected positive events (percentage of positivity 0.56%)
  • Special Schools: conducted 372 rapid antigen detection test and no positive cases detected (positivity rate 0%)

Other

  • National Guard: carried out 111 rapid antigen detection tests and detected positive events (percentage of positivity 3.6%)
  • Nursing homes: conducted 6,159 rapid antigen detection tests were detected 32 positive events (percentage of positivity 0.52%)
  • Closed structures: carried out 5,114 rapid antigen detection tests were detected new incidents (percentage of positivity 0.08%).
