Who was Claire Angelidou?

Claire Angelidou came from Famagusta. She was born in 1932. After completing her circular studies, in 1951, she went to Athens where she studied Philology at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Athens. In 1955 she married Nikos Angelidis, philologist, lawyer, member of the House of Representatives and fighter of E.O.K.A. He worked as a philologist in secondary schools in Cyprus, from 1956 to 1991, when he was elected Member of Parliament and from 1993 to 1997 he was Minister of Education and Culture of Cyprus. He had three children, Angelos, Christos and Teukros.

Claire Angelidou was a member of various cultural and academic associations, while she received many awards from various organizations in Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Belgium, England and France.

At the same time he developed a rich literary work with which he has distinguished himself, especially in the field of poetry. Her poems and articles have been published in the Greek and Cypriot press and have been anthologized in various anthologies in Cyprus, Greece, Italy and Romania.
