The 12-meter-high Christmas tree with 17 lanterns and hundreds of crimson balls that decorate and beautify the center of Paphos during the holidays was completely destroyed by fire.
According to a representative of the Office of the Communication Branch of the Police Headquarters, at 03:15 in the morning a fire broke out at the Christmas tree located in Kennedy Square in Paphos.
Members of the Paphos Fire Service immediately rushed to the scene and extinguished the fire before it spread to adjacent areas, however this was completely destroyed by the fire. The scene has been secured.
The causes of the fire are still unknown, however, the police, the fire brigade and the electromechanical service are starting the investigations again today.
Tests are continuing on the quadruple fatal but the first indications seem to be that the charges for which the 44-year-old was arrested are valid.
