Diyalog (13.03.23) publishes data released by the "tourism department" of the occupied territories, which concern the crossings into the occupied territories both through the crossing points (roadblocks) and from the illegal Tymbou airport, for the period of January - December 2022, states the GTP.
According to these data, during the above-mentioned period, 461,000 people entered the occupied territories by air, through the illegal airport of Tympos, while the number of crossings through roadblocks amounted to 7 million.
According to the newspaper, the large difference observed in the number of people who entered the occupied territories through roadblocks compared to those who entered by air, proves once again the importance of crossing points and therefore also shows the need to open new points transit and to make the formalities that are made easier.
According to the statistics of the "tourism department", in 2022 the number of people who arrived in the occupied territories through the illegal airport reached 461,000. Among them, 32,442 are passengers from Russia, 31,450 from Iran, 27,800 from Germany and 24,167 from England.
Also, according to the data, in 2022 the number of roadblock crossings reached 7 million.
Specifically, a total of 6,578,930 people entered the occupied territories through the barricades of Agios Dometios, Ledras Street, Pergamos, Deryneia and Limnitis.
In addition, the number of Greek Cypriots who entered the occupied territories through barricades during the same time amounted to 2,835,496, the number of British nationals who entered the occupied territories through "southern" Cyprus, as the Republic of Cyprus is called, amounted to 282,237, while they crossed into the occupied 247,033 people from Greece and 162,481 people from Bulgaria.
