Patients who were vaccinated but did not die due to coronavirus in the last few days did not develop the necessary antibodies.
The Spokesperson of OKYPY, explained in his intervention in the ANT1 show "Mera Mesimeri", that the two cases are very similar to each other.
As he noted, one of the two persons received the first dose of the vaccine on 2/03 and on the same day developed symptoms, which intensified on 7/03 where the specific person underwent a PCR test, which came out positive. Therefore, on the 13th of the month he was admitted to the General Hospital of Famagusta and was immediately transferred to the Intensive Care Unit where he died on 27/03.
In the other case, the person received the first dose of the vaccine on 21/02 and on 25/02 developed symptoms. On March 1, he was admitted to the Limassol General Hospital, while on the 5th of the month, he was transferred to his Intensive Care Unit, where he died.
"It is understandable that these individuals have not acquired adequate immunity, as they developed symptoms and died very close to the date they received the first dose of the vaccine," Charilaou explained.
Finally, he underlined that the higher the vaccination coverage of the population, the lower the number of hospitalizations, the admissions to the ICUs as well as the mortality.
