The readiness of the European Commission to further support Cyprus in managing the increased arrivals of irregular immigrants and asylum seekers, mainly Syrians from Lebanon, was expressed by the representative of the European Commission for immigration issues, Anita Hipper.
As Mrs. Hiper mentioned in Kype, the Commission is in continuous communication at the highest and technocratic level with the Cypriot authorities on this specific issue.
Also, the responsible representative for neighborhood and enlargement issues, Ana Pisonero, noted that the Commission is expected to promote a financial support package this year, which concerns the strengthening of security in Lebanon.
