Vatili honored her heroes and missing persons

An annual memorial service for the heroes of Vatili as well as a prayer in favor of finding the remaining missing persons of Vatili, were held today by the Community Youth Council of the occupied village, together with the organized ensembles of the occupied community.

In a statement, the Vatilis Community Youth Council states that both the memorial service and the prayer were performed at the Church of Agios Eleftherios in Latsia. The memorial service and the prayer were presided over by the Bishop of Mesaoria, Mr. Gregory.

In his greeting, the President of the Community Council of Vatilis, George Stavrou, said that "the greatest honor we can pay to the heroes and missing persons of Vatilis is to justify their sacrifice to justify the purpose they gave their lives for a free homeland ", to add that" the unity of our people will be the best act of honor to our heroes, the fallen, the martyrs and our missing ".

In his speech, the President of the Community Youth Council of Vatilis, Stavros Hadjisavvas, among other things stressed that 44 years ago the people of Vatilis ran to duty and responsibility, to defend the territorial integrity and independence of the Republic of Cyprus from the Turkish invader.

He also said that today "the people of Vatili, united, are turning to their roots where innocence is not dangerous, simplicity is not a lack and spontaneity is synonymous with honesty".

The memorial service, in addition to the dozens of Vatiliotes, was attended by MEP Costas Mavridis, MPs Onoufrios Koullas, Skevi Koukouma and Anna Theologou, the Mayors of Latsia Christos Pittaras, Lefkonikos Zina Sanyri and Panagodis Panagdis Panagdis.
