Three infants are currently being treated at Makareio Hospital with a good condition.
According to the Director of the Pediatric Clinic of Makarios Hospital, Abraham Elias, speaking on the OMEGA show "Information Now", children under the age of one usually need treatment due to the manifestation of fever and the additional anxiety that may exist. However, the three babies who are currently being treated, said Mr. Elias, are less than a month old and their condition is developing smoothly without any worries.
In general, he added, in Makareio there are about 4-6 hospitalizations of children with coronary heart disease every day and the situation is completely under control, since serious hospitalizations due to coronary artery disease in the pediatric population are, as Mr. Elias explained, extremely rare.
In relation to infants, however, their infection with the coronary artery is usually, as he mentioned, from the immediate family environment, with the parents in most cases being unvaccinated.
