The Meteorological Department issued a yellow warning for extremely high temperatures on Monday, with the Forest Department informing that the risk of explosion and expansion of forest fires will remain at the level of "red alert".

According to the announcement of the Meteorological Department, the warning is valid from 1200 to 1700 today.

As reported, the temperature is expected to rise to around 41 degrees Celsius inside.

Meanwhile, the Forest Department, in an announcement, informs the public that from today, Monday, the risk of explosion and spread of forest fires will remain at the level of "red alert".

He emphasizes that it is forbidden to light a fire without a permit and that it constitutes an offense which according to the Law on Forests of 2012, is punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years or a fine of up to € 50.000,00 or both sentences together and according to the Prevention Fires in the Countryside Law of 1988 up to 5 years or a fine of up to € 20.000 or both.

Lighting a fire, for food preparation, is allowed only in the barbecues of the picnic areas.

The Forest Department also urges the public to be especially careful during their excursions, completely avoiding actions and activities that may cause a fire, such as the use of tools or agricultural machinery that produce heat, sparks or flame, such as emery, oxygen welding and welding.

Finally, in case anyone notices smoke or fire, call 1407 (Forest Department) or 112 (Fire Department).
