Traffic ranged at 80% - Statements by the President of the Federation of Leisure Center Owners Associations

RECREATION CENTERS

Neophytos Thrasyvoulou, President of the Federation of Leisure Center Owners Associations (OSIKA), expressed satisfaction with the number of visitors to the food industry companies at the weekend on a pan-Cypriot scale, adding that the traffic fluctuated at "80%".

In statements by KYPE, Mr. Thrasyvoulou stated that due to the weather conditions at the weekend and especially on Sunday, the businesses that operated are satisfied throughout Cyprus.

In the free areas of Famagusta and Paphos, however, it seems that a large portion of food industry companies will operate only with tourism and are in fact in a worse position, he added.

He pointed out that in all cities the local population has moved within the framework allowed by law, while for yesterday he said that a "good Sunday" dawned for the catering businesses.

We ask, he said, as the leisure centers continue to adhere to the measures to be achieved by April 1, to give the right to entrepreneurs to be able to work better and offer better services to their patrons. He also referred to the new measures that will be discussed today with the Ministry of Tourism for more and better organization of leisure centers.

He added that next week is crucial, while calling on the owners of leisure centers to strictly adhere to health protocols.

He mentioned, among other things, problems that became apparent with the reopening of the leisure centers, as in some cases the public has not made reservations, as a result of which businessmen find themselves in an awkward position unable to serve them. Mr. Thrasyvoulou noted that the highest traffic was observed by the younger world, while the older ages were more restrained and careful in their movements.

We consider it, he said, normal, while expressing the hope little by little with the best epidemiological picture to give the opportunity to all Cypriots, of all ages, to visit the recreation centers.

He also appealed to remote and tourist areas, as examined by epidemiologists, the possibility of hotels being able to receive Cypriots, with the aim of increasing traffic, at least on weekends, since, as he said, the plans of the Ministry are in force. Tourism for reduced booking costs.
