CYPRUS: Psychologist accused of sexually abusing a minor

A 50-year-old psychologist was referred to the Limassol Permanent Criminal Court according to a report by Phileleftheros, who faces charges of sexual abuse of a minor as well as offenses involving possession of child pornography.

According to Phileleftheros, The said psychologist allegedly sexually abused a minor relative who subsequently lodged a complaint with the authorities. The special unit of the Police handles the case very carefully, due to its uniqueness, since there are minor victims in it. The accused according to the Liberal was taken to the Limassol District Court which ordered his release on parole. To hand over his travel documents, to pay as a guarantee the amount of 80.000 thousand euros in cash and to present himself at a police station to sign.

The case was referred to a direct trial before the Permanent Criminal Court that will meet on July 22, 2021, with the accused being called to respond to the charges he is facing.

The examinations by the Office for the Management of Domestic Violence and Child Abuse of the Police Headquarters in cooperation with the Office for the Fight against Cybercrime, continue at an intensive pace.
