Hundreds of workers, mostly hotel employees, will live on until the end of August with just € 360 euros a month, who will remain unemployed due to the non-opening of the hotels where they work.
In fact, these employees will be supported by the state for a year and a half, as in October or November the companies in which they worked close and return to their duties in April. The special allowance, which is included in the new plans, is a continuation of the previous plans of the government. Until April, these employees received the regular unemployment benefit, while in May and June they will receive the special unemployment amount of € 360.
The new plan is again aimed at the same people who are registered as regular unemployed in the special register and received unemployment benefits, for which they have exhausted the right to pay either in January, or in February, or in March, or in April 2020, either in May 2020 or in June 2020. According to the Ministry of Labor, for hotel employees who were laid off before March 1, the period of subsidy for unemployment benefit or special unemployment benefit will be considered as continuous employment for the purposes of the Suspension Plan. work applied during the winter months.
However, yesterday the Minister of Labor, Zeta Aimilianidou, appealed to the hoteliers, in case they proceed with recruitment, to choose from the specific category of employees. In case they remain unemployed, they will continue to receive the special allowance until October, while in November they will return to the regular unemployment benefit.
