METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION
Definitions
Registered Unemployed
The number of registered unemployed refers to persons over 15 years of age who apply to the District and Local Employment Offices of the Department of Labor to find work and are registered as unemployed. These people must be capable and available for work and actively looking for work. The monthly number of registered unemployed refers to those who on the last day of each month have an active application for a job.
The number of registered unemployed does not include the self-employed, people looking for a part-time job as well as people looking for work in a specific area or a specific employer.
Recent Methodological Changes
According to the information of the Department of Labor, from Tuesday, June 15, 2021, the automatic renewal of registrations was completed and the online platform of the Public Employment Service was activated to allow the registration of a new application for finding a job, its renewal, as well as registration vacancy. This new regulation may affect the comparison of the monthly unemployment data recorded through this new procedure with the data recorded from the previous procedures and which is evaluated by the Department of Labor.
Seasonally Corrected Items
Seasonal Correction is a statistical technique that removes the effect of seasonality from a chronological order, thus making more visible the real tendency to change a magnitude. For the application of the seasonal correction the Statistical Service uses the software JDemetra + 2.2.2 which has been developed by Eurostat. The production of custom time series is done with the TRAMO & SEATS algorithm. It is pointed out that due to the seasonal correction, the entire chronological order of the monthly estimates is recalculated each time the data of a new month are added. This recalculation often leads to revisions to estimates for previous months. In March 2020, the model that is applied has been updated.
Classification System
The registered unemployed by economic activity are published based on the NACE Rev. classification system. 2.
