By 3 January 2022, the Security Council is awaiting reports from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on its Good Services Mission and the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP), in accordance with Resolution 2587 (2021) of 29 July 2021 for renewal. of the UNFICYP mission in Cyprus.

This reference to the resolution is included in a preliminary work program of the Security Council for January 2022.

In particular, paragraph 19 of the resolution states that the SA "requests the Secretary-General to submit a report on its Good Services by 3 January 2022, Encourages the leaders of the two communities to provide written information to the Secretary-General's Good Service Mission on the steps taken to support the relevant sections of this resolution since its adoption, in particular paragraphs 6 and 7 and 9, with the aim of achieving a sustainable and comprehensive settlement ".

It further requests the Secretary-General "to include the contents of these updates in the report of his good services".

In addition, "requests the Secretary-General to submit by January 3, 2022, a report on the implementation of this resolution based on the analysis produced through the Overall Performance Evaluation System, covering all parts of the Mission and to keep the Security Council informed of the facts, when necessary ".
