A student at the age of 82 will be Mrs. Despina Tsikkouri, a resident of Kato Polemidia, who managed to secure a position in the Department of Classical Studies and Philosophy of the University of Cyprus.

The super grandmother or the grandmother of the heart, as her 17-year-old classmates called her, in the private tutoring center where she was prepared during the year, told KYPE that it has always been her dream to study and now she will have the opportunity to do so.

"I always wanted to study and I always did Training Courses, I did Philosophy, French, First Aid, computers and more", he tells us and adds "now that my grandchildren have grown up, I told my children that I wanted to attend the pre-school exams".

For her own children, she adds, this was not something strange since a lifetime Mrs. Despina sought knowledge in its various forms and so enrolled in a private tutoring center, where she attended courses in Modern and Ancient Greek, Latin and History.

"My classmates at the tutoring center were 17 years old, younger than my older grandson who is 23", he told us and added that they called me a super grandmother and they loved me. I will miss them very much ".

She also said that she only had a hard time in Latin, but in the end she did it and she is happy about it.

Regarding her next steps, Ms. Despina told us that, due to the difficulties of coming and going in Nicosia, she will ask for some facilities for her study.

Besides, one of the managers of the private tutoring center "Pyrina", Giannos Panagiotou, told KYPE that it was "really a big surprise" when he found out that there was an 82-year-old woman on the phone line where he asked to register at the tutoring center.

"Ms. "Despina attended the new school year normally, in September, together with 17-year-old students", he said and added "it was a big project to attend these classes because they have requirements".

In addition to the lessons, he continued, participated in cultural and charitable events of our tutoring, proving that "he is a multifaceted character who loves education."

With her knowledge, added Mr. Panagiotou, the 82-year-old grandmother won a place in the hearts of all the students, who also called her the grandmother of their heart.
