In the context of the presentation of the budget of the Ministry of Interior for 2022 to the Committee on Finance, data were submitted on the top 10 countries of origin of new asylum seekers from January to October 2021. The total reaches 10.082 people.
Specifically, the list is as follows:
- Syria - 2.489
- Nigeria - 1.067
- Democratic Republic of the Congo - 1.053
- India - 854
- Pakistan - 832
- Bangladesh - 617
- Cameroon - 544
- Nepal - 491
- Somalia - 485
- Sierra L. - 336
- Other countries - 1.314
As has been said, Asylum seekers in 2019 had increased by 506% compared to 2015. In 2020, however, there is a decrease which is reflected in the restrictive measures of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, the budget of the Ministry of Interior for 2020 reaches 630 million euros.
