A dangerous product, which does not meet the current legislation setting out the essential safety and health requirements, has been placed on the market in the European Union. The Department of Labor Inspection of the Ministry of Labor, Welfare and Social Insurance, informs the consumer public that according to data registered in the Rapid Information Exchange System (RAPEX) the following product is dangerous.
MACHINERY
1. Folding electric bike of unknown origin.
RAPEX Report: Report 21, No. Notification INFO / 00116/21
Due to a software error, the fail safe function may not work and the electrical system may keep the bicycle in motion when in an emergency the user tries to brake, leading to possible injuries. The product does not comply with the requirements of the Machinery Directive and the relevant European standard EN 15194.

The Department of Labor Inspection invites the consumer public, in case it finds the above product in the Cypriot market, to inform the relevant Officers of the Department at 22405663 or 22405603 or 22405604.
