His life and work

Ouranios Ioannidis served as Minister of Education and Culture and Member of Parliament for the Nicosia Constituency, elected by DISY from 1996-1999. He was born in Nicosia on December 22, 1944.

He obtained a degree in physiognomy from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He went on to pursue a master's degree at Cardiff University, earning a master's degree in Educational Administration, Educational Psychology, Educational Technology and Research Skills.

He worked as a professor of physiology, biology and chemistry from 1971 to 1986 in secondary schools in Cyprus. In the period 1992-1995 he was seconded for special duties of teacher training at the Pedagogical Institute of Cyprus.

He then became a member of DISY. He served as First Vice President of DISY (1997-1999). From 2008 to 2016, Ouranios Ioannidis was the President of the Cyprus Olympic Committee.
