The Municipality of Sotiras will challenge, by any legal means, decisions that were "taken in his absence", since as he claims, with the recent decision of the Council of Ministers related to specific development in the area of Agia Thekla, "the beachfront of Sotiras is condemned", the its value is "annihilated" and large investments that are in the works are permanently removed, with consequences, as he claims, not only for the local but also for the national economy.

In a statement from the Municipality of Sotiras "reaffirms its determination to safeguard its well-intentioned interests and to promote development always with respect for the environment, using every available legal measure at its disposal. Among other things, he intends to proceed with the legal challenge of the Special Ecological Assessment, which was carried out in his absence, without any consultation as it should have been done and which is a blatant injustice and an obstacle to the development of the Municipality and specifically the coastal front".

It is added that "as evidenced by the recent decision of the Council of Ministers, according to which a license granted by the previous Government for a specific development in the area of Agia Thekla, based on the provisions of the Special Ecological Assessment, was revoked, the beachfront of Sotiras is condemned, the its value is annihilated and large investments that are in the works are now removed permanently, with consequences not only for the local but also for the national economy".

According to the announcement of the Municipality of Sotiras, "the specific "ecological assessment" was done without the knowledge of the Local Authority and is contrary to the provisions of the Local Plan, which was only recently approved and after seven years of consultations with all the relevant government agencies. We underline that the plan also includes a strategic environmental study and it is noted that the Municipality of Sotiras is the first to design its coastal front with pioneering studies perfectly harmonized for today's environmental needs".

The Municipality would wait, as it states "before making decisions that are perhaps a precursor for the next developments, the meeting of the Sotiras Municipal Council with the Minister of the Interior, scheduled for July 14. Besides, there is an ongoing consultation, which was started by the Parliament and with the agreement of the services".

The Municipality of Sotiras declares "ready to continue the discussion in order to find solutions that will not do injustice to the region and will not harm the environment, always within the framework of equality". "In no case do we want to be an exception with more rights, but neither will we tolerate the victimization of an entire region and its inhabitants," the announcement concludes.
