The Independent Authority for the Investigation of Allegations and Complaints against the Police has decided to prosecute 17 members of the Police for offenses involving, inter alia, breach or omission and / or negligence in the case of the disappearance of missing persons (Nikos case).
An announcement by the Authority states that following the decision of the Attorney General of the Republic not to prosecute the 15 members of the Police, who had been charged in the case in question, the Attorney General sent the case to the Authority to consider disciplinary action. .
The Authority notes that after re-examining the evidence of the case, during the session of 18/06/2021, it decided to prosecute 17 members of the Police for offenses involving, inter alia, violation or omission and / or negligence of duty.
After the completion of the information process of all 17 suspected members of the Police for the disciplinary prosecution against them, which procedure has already been initiated, the case will be forwarded to the Chief of Police, who, according to the Legislation, should immediately forward the disciplinary process, the announcement concludes.
