Mercedes plans to launch in 2016 a new compact SUV that will be more "rugged" than the GLA, will be based on a new platform, and will most likely bring the 4-cylinder engines of the A-Class.

In particular, the new model will have a more "traditional" SUV image, but with several dynamic features, such as a large front grille, many "corners" in the body and front headlights and an external backup in the rear. Also - according to information - this compact model will not far exceed 4,1 meters in length - smaller than the GLA - while it will be more "capable" off-road and more economical, compared to the GLA.
In addition, according to rumors, the new model codenamed City-G will hit a new platform, JC1, which is being developed in collaboration with Renault and can be combined with front-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive versions. .
As for the mechanical parts, the new model is expected to use the 4-cylinder petrol and diesel engines of the A-Class.
Finally, the new compact SUV is expected to be launched in 2016, so it is likely that we will see it in its original form at one of next year's Car Showrooms.
