From the session it became clear that the start of work is delayed due to the reduced staff of the Department of Public Works but also due to the updating of plans. It was confirmed that by the end of 2017 the bids will be announced and at the beginning of 2018 the construction works will start for the project for which there is already a budget in the 2017 budget of 1,4 million euros.

The Municipality of Sotira requested during the works to change the course of the water pipeline, so that it does not pass through the core of Sotira, so that when faults occur, the center of Sotira is not affected.

The Parliamentary Committee on Transport, Communications and Works consists of the deputies Georgios Prokopiou DIKO - President), Charalambos Pittokopitis (DIKO - Vice President), Dimitris Dimitriou (DISY), Efthymios Diplaros (DISY), Zharios Zharizas AKEL), Andrea Fakonti (AKEL), Costa Costa (AKEL), Elias Myrianthous (KS EDEK), Anna Theologou (Citizens' Alliance), Charalambos Theopemptou (Ecologists' Movement - Citizens' Cooperation)

Concerns about delay by Christakis Tziovanis

AKEL MP for Famagusta Christakis Tziovanis expressed his concerns about the delay in the start of work in a written statement. According to Mr. Tziovanis, the current condition of the road is at least characterized as sad, the lack of lighting, sidewalks, signage and signage have made the road extremely dangerous. He also states that the studies and the tender documents for the construction of the Project should have already been completed and by the end of March - April 2017 tenders should have been requested. The expropriation procedures, as stated in the announcement, have been in the Land Registry department since 2011, but nothing has been done so far.

Written statement by MP Christakis Tziovanis after the Session of the Parliamentary Committee on Transport, Communications and Works.

"Once again our concerns have been confirmed, it has been admitted by the competent departments of Urban Planning and Public Works, that although there is a budget in the 2017 budget of 1,4 million, nevertheless the works for reconstruction of the road network that unites the Municipalities of Deryneia - Savior will not start this year. It is a project where the state should have made it a priority project and not counting twenty years of inaction and obstruction.
This is a road with increased traffic due to the existence of the C Primary School of Deryneia, the High School "Peace and Friendship" of the Church of the Apostle Barnabas, the "Renaissance" stadium, the public market and the Industrial Zone of Deryneia. In addition, all traffic to the highway from Deryneia is through the specific road that leads to the center of Sotira.
The current state of the road is at least characterized as deplorable, the lack of lighting, sidewalks, signage and signage have made the road extremely dangerous.
The studies and the tender documents for the construction of the Project should have already been completed and by the end of March - April 2017 tenders should have been requested.
The expropriation procedures have been in the Land Registry department since 2011, but nothing has been done so far.
We hope that this project will not be referred to the Greek calendars, but it will soon move forward, and finally the state will become reciprocal to a province that offers the maximum to the country's GDP. "
