A total of 3.516 objections were submitted to the supplementary electoral roll, Head of Elections Service Menelaos Vassiliou told KYPE, noting that each objection will be investigated and, if necessary, corrected.

Specifically, 566 objections were submitted in Nicosia, 3 in Kyrenia, 100 in Famagusta, 130 in Larnaca, 1.517 in Limassol, 1.200 in Paphos and 230 for Lakatamia, where the issue of illegal relocation of voters arose.

"Whether it is about relocations or new registrations, a thorough investigation will be carried out, and if an incorrect registration occurs or that incorrect information has been indicated, a relevant correction will be made," said Mr. Vassiliou.

He emphasized that a great effort is being made to examine them in time until Friday in order to complete the examination of the objections and the registration of the corrections in the system and to finalize the voter list that will be valid for the elections.

As he stated, the new voter applications in the electoral roll amount to 25.914 of which 12.868 concern Cypriots, 103 are Turkish Cypriots with addresses in the free areas of the Republic, 10.146 applications concern Europeans residing in Cyprus for Local Government elections while 2.900 applications concern Europeans for European elections.

In relation to election centers abroad, Mr. Vassiliou mentioned that there was a large number of declarations, based on which Brussels, Athens, Thessaloniki, Patras, Komotini, Volos, Heraklion, Ioannina have secured an election center. In England, Manchester, London (2 centres), Birmingham and Glasgow.

He pointed out that the specificity of the June 9 elections lies in the fact that for the first time eight elections will be held at the same time.

Specifically, there will be elections for members of the European Parliament, Mayors, Deputy Mayors, Municipal Councils, Mayors, members of Community Councils, Presidents of Provincial Self-Governing Organizations and members of School Boards.

In the upcoming elections for the nomination of Members of the European Parliament and Local Government Authorities, all citizens of the Republic aged 18 and over who have their habitual residence in Cyprus, as well as citizens of other member states of the European Union who reside in Cyprus and are registered in the relevant electoral rolls.

On April 24th will be the submission of nominations for the European elections, on April 25th for municipal councils, Presidents of Provincial Self-Governing Organizations and members of School Boards and on April 29th for community councils.

The approved budget for the expenditure of the elections is €6.650.000.

The counting of votes will take place at the local polling stations.

As for the latest results it is too early for any assessment because they will involve the results of eight elections in the same night.

The first results, however, will be announced an hour to an hour and a half after the polls close.

As has been announced, on April 19 notices will be published by the General Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners to determine the dates and places for submitting nominations.

On May 10, a decree of the Minister of the Interior will be issued on the subdivision of the electoral divisions and the determination of the electoral centers.

On May 31, there will be a publication of notification on the distribution of voters in the polling stations.

As is known, voting will take place on June 9 with the sorting and counting of votes.

On June 10, there will be an announcement of those elected, return of Election Warrants from the General Election Commissioner and the Election Commissioners to the Minister of the Interior.
