Our will to resolve the Cyprus problem is not bending or diminishing and we will never settle for fait accompli, said today the Government Spokesman Mr. Konstantinos Letympiotis.

Speaking to reporters at the Presidential Palace, the Spokesperson, referring to today's anniversary of the illegal declaration of the pseudo-state, said: "It is a sad anniversary of the illegal declaration, which reminds us of the flagrant violation of the fundamental principles of the Charter of the United Nations, the which violates United Nations resolutions. The international community itself, for 40 years, has been condemning it and calling for its revocation.

It is 40 years of violation of international law and unacceptable claims.

The Republic of Cyprus, as the only recognized state, a member state of the UN and the EU, remains committed to efforts to achieve a sustainable, peaceful and final solution to the Cyprus problem.

With political will and determination we will continue our efforts to resume the negotiations from where they were interrupted.

The will to solve the Cyprus issue with a solution of a bizonal bicommunal federation with political equality is neither bending nor diminishing, but it remains strong. We will never settle for the past."
