The President of the European Parliament Antonio Tagiani, who is paying an official visit to Cyprus, arrived early in the morning at the Presidential Palace.
Mr. Tagiani was welcomed by the President of the Republic Nikos Anastasiadis and was followed by an official ceremony with the rebuttal of the EU anthem and the National Anthem of Cyprus, while a military procession paid tribute. The President of the European Parliament laid a wreath at the statue of Archbishop Makarios III. A private meeting is currently taking place, followed by extended talks between the two delegations. Statements by the President of the Republic and the President of the European Parliament are scheduled for 1000.
