The contacts of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Dimitris Syllouris, were completed today in London, in the context of a working visit that he had been carrying out since yesterday, Monday, in the British capital.

The Speaker of Parliament had a meeting this morning with the Mayor of the City of London, Mr. Charles Bowman. During the meeting, possible synergies were discussed between the House of Representatives and the City, in the context of events to be organized by the City Hall in view of the Commonwealth Summit in April 2018. Mr. Syllouris stressed that the Parliament can act as a catalyst. encouraging competent bodies in Cyprus to participate in these business events. Mayor Bowman briefed the Speaker on the City's strategy and program in the face of the challenges and opportunities that are expected to arise from Brexit.

Yesterday afternoon, Mr. Syllouris addressed a round table discussion organized by the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, presenting Cyprus as a business and investment center and the contribution of the House of Representatives in the relevant framework. The debate, chaired by the President of the Council, Lord Marland, was attended by representatives of companies and companies based in the United Kingdom.

Last night, the Speaker of Parliament attended a dinner hosted in his honor by the Executive Secretariat of the Federation of Cyprus Organizations of the United Kingdom, at the Cyprus Brotherhood building. The dinner, which was also attended by the Archbishop of Thyateira and Great Britain, Mr. Grigorios, Mr. Syllouris presented his vision for the House of Representatives and its work in the coming years. He answered questions regarding the work of the Parliament, as well as the Cyprus problem and its current phase.

The Speaker of Parliament will leave London tomorrow morning and is expected to arrive in Cyprus late in the afternoon.
