The President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, arrives in Cyprus today for a two-day official visit.

As the Government Spokesman Constantinos Letympiotis had stated, the visit of President Mattarella is considered very important as it is the first visit by an Italian President since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Italy and Cyprus and is part of the 20th anniversary of Cyprus's accession to the European Union. but also the sad completion of 50 years of the illegal invasion and continued occupation.

President Mattarella, the longest serving President in the history of the Italian Republic, will be accompanied by representatives of the Italian Government and a large delegation.

According to the schedule, President Mattarella and his entourage will arrive in the early afternoon and their first stop will be the Presidential Palace where they will be welcomed by the President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulidis and the First Lady.

Afterwards, the two Presidents will have a private meeting followed by extended talks between the delegations of the two countries. Afterwards, Presidents Christodoulidis and Materella will make statements.

In the afternoon they will visit Nicosia City Hall and the old town of the capital along the green line. Besides, Mr. Mattarella will have a meeting with members of the Italian community in Cyprus.

In the evening, President Christodoulidis and his wife will host an official dinner in honor of the President of Italy.
