Today, the Minister of Defense, Christoforos Fokaidis, had a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Federal Republic of Germany, Marcus Grubel, at the Andreas Papandreou Air Base in Paphos.

The Minister of Defense, Christoforos Fokaidis, described the meeting as constructive, during which he said that the issues that have been circulating lately together with Germany were discussed and reviewed, especially in terms of the facilities offered by Cyprus to the German Unified detachment. He added that there was a dialogue regarding the bilateral relations between Cyprus and Germany, as well as the relations between the two countries at European level. within the EU in particular in the light of the formation of a new defense association with the establishment of Pesco, the permanent structured cooperation in which Cyprus is a founding member. These days, Christoforos Fokaidis pointed out, consultations are underway with others such as Germany and other countries in order, said the Minister, through programs that are promoted to have the greatest possible protection and security of the EU. and European interests especially in this volatile and troubled neighborhood to deal with new threats or crises as well as to create conditions of stability and security.
At the same time, the Minister of Defense expressed the readiness and readiness of Cyprus to contribute in this direction with the provision of the Andreas Papandreou air base and the naval base in Zygi, in which improvement works are in progress, so that Cyprus can respond better and to contribute to what it pursues together with other Europeans.  
He also mentioned that an agreement has recently been signed between Cyprus and Germany for the exchange of classified information, while various other cooperation programs are in progress, concluded Christoforos Fokaidis.
